User Guide & Technical Documentation

Complete operating instructions, hardware setup manuals, EDI specifications, and error code references for All WeighZ Weighbridge Management System.

1. System Overview

All WeighZ is a comprehensive WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) weighbridge management application designed for industrial, mining, commercial, and agricultural weighbridge operations.

1.1 Technology Stack

Framework: WPF (.NET 8.0 Runtime) UI Framework: WPF-UI Fluent Modern Design System Database Engine: SQLite (Weigh.db) PDF Generator Engine: wkhtmltopdf.exe Key Encryption: AES-256 Bit Encryption Cipher Password Hashing: PBKDF2 with SHA-256 and per-user salt Hardware Protection: HWID (Machine Name + CPU Core count signature)

2. Operator's Quick-Start Guide

  1. Launch & Authenticate: Open AllWeighZ.exe and log in with your assigned Username and Password.
  2. Verify Scale Status: Check the live weight gauge. Ensure the badge reads GREEN ("STABLE DATA").
  3. Inbound First Weigh: Drive truck onto scale platform. Enter Vehicle Registration. Press F5.
  4. Outbound Second Weigh: Select the matching record from the transaction table upon truck return. Press F5. Nett Weight calculated automatically.

3. Dual-Weighing & Ticket Generation

Status CodeMeaningRequired Operator Action
FIRSTVehicle has completed initial weight.Truck remains in yard until outbound weighing.
COMPLETESecond weight saved. Nett calculated. PDF generated.Print PDF ticket and hand to driver.

4. Scale Indicator Hardware Setup (RS-232)

  • Serial Port (COM): Select the assigned COM port from Device Manager (e.g. COM3).
  • Baud Rate: Match the indicator output speed (Standard: 9600 bps).
  • Parity & Stop Bits: Parity: None, Stop Bits: One (1), Data Bits: 8.
  • Read Length: Length of continuous ASCII weight string packet.

5. Watchdog Timer & Data Stream Diagnostics

Diagnostic Step for "DISCONNECTED" Status: 1. Open Hardware Configuration -> Click "Test Port" switch. 2. Inspect the "Live Raw Data Stream" box. 3. If scrambled characters appear -> Baud rate mismatch. 4. If box is completely empty -> Check physical RS-232/USB cable. 5. Close Test Port before clicking "Apply".

6. Emergency Manual Test Weight Entry

Emergency Protocol:

Go to System Setup → General Settings → Check Enable Manual Test Weight Entry. All manual entries are logged permanently in the security audit trail.

7. Database Maintenance & Force-Restart Restore

7.1 Performing Backups

Go to File → Database Maintenance → Click Run Backup Now.

7.2 The Restore Process

In the Restore Data tab, select a valid .db backup file and click Restore & Restart App.

8. UI Customization & Label Substitution

Navigate to System Setup → Label Customization. Modify screen labels globally. Changes update across the main dashboard and printed PDF tickets.

9. Security Architecture & HWID Machine Locking

  • PBKDF2 Password Security: Standard PBKDF2 encryption prevents password reversal even if database files are compromised.
  • Hardware ID (HWID) Locking: Locked to CPU core count and machine name. Moving files to a new PC displays ID MISMATCH error.

10. EDI Pipe-Delimited Export Specification

Automated text export files are written to [AppDirectory]/edi/OUTBOX/ with 21 pipe-delimited fields for external ERP processing (SAP, SYSPRO, Sage).

11. System Error Codes & Troubleshooting Reference

12. Site Maintenance Checklists

Daily Checklist

  • Morning: Verify live scale readout displays 0 kg and status is CONNECTED.
  • Evening: Ensure all FIRST weigh transactions have completed SECOND weights.
  • Run daily database backup to external USB or cloud storage.
